NC Medicaid, TRICARE, and private plans all authorize ABA therapy only after a medical autism diagnosis, so this step comes first. Does TRICARE cover ABA therapy in Fayetteville?
Yes. TRICARE covers ABA therapy through the Autism Care Demonstration, which is authorized through December 31, 2028 and carries no age limit and no dollar cap. North Carolina sits in the TRICARE East region administered by Humana Military, and your child needs a diagnosis from a TRICARE-approved provider plus a referral and an authorization before therapy begins.

A permanent change of station does not have to end your child's program. Telehealth holds the same Alpaca Health clinician and the same goals in place anywhere in North Carolina, so a move within the state changes very little. For a move out of state, ask your Autism Services Navigator to open the referral in the new region early, because TRICARE reauthorizes treatment every six months.
