About
Roma G. Velasco is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the founder of LocusBx Behavioral Consulting. She starts with caregiver and client buy-in, then emphasizes caregiver capacity-building over direct clinician control, viewing clients and caregivers as the true experts in their own lives. Her approach to intervention planning and parent training follows K.I.S.S. (Keep it Simple and Significant), because sometimes the solution to a complex problem is the simplest and easiest to implement, while using values-based strategies when collaborating with parents and clients on behavioral goals. Roma integrates Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Non-Violent Communication into her practice.
Her path to ABA spans 15+ years across early childhood education, organizational development and JEDI-focused training design, healthcare consulting, and affordable and supportive housing, with clinical experience in memory care settings with older adults. Outside the clinic, Roma is an avid rock and ice climber, triathlete, cyclist, horseback rider, yogi, and crocheter, interests that keep her grounded and often become genuine points of connection with the clients and families she works with.
