Alpaca Health – ABA Therapy for Families

How ABA therapy works through Alpaca Health

Four simple steps from your first form to your first session. No waitlists, no phone tag, no guesswork.

1

Tell us about your child

Start with our short intake form. You share the basics: your child's age, your availability, your insurance, and any autism diagnosis you already have. That is all we need to understand where your family is starting from.

2

We verify your insurance

After you submit the form, we verify your insurance and follow up within one business day to confirm the details. No long waits, no phone tag.

3

Get matched with the right provider

We match you with a BCBA who has availability now. Prefer someone specific? Tell us, and we will try to make it work. Either way, the fit is built around your child's needs and your family's schedule.

4

Start ABA therapy

We introduce you directly to your provider, and they take it from there. Most families begin within a few weeks, with in-home ABA therapy or a telehealth session where your plan covers it.

What insurance does Las Vegas accept for ABA therapy?

We accept most insurance providers and handle verification, prior authorization, and paperwork.

Don't see your plan? Check all accepted insurances

Alpaca Health accepts the plans shown above and confirms your exact benefits before you commit. Las Vegas families on Nevada Medicaid reach ABA therapy through a Medicaid health plan or fee-for-service, and treatment needs prior authorization either way. Military families at Nellis Air Force Base use TRICARE West.

What Alpaca Health's data shows about ABA care across our network

Every number below comes from the sessions, claims, and prior authorizations that partner clinics ran on Alpaca Health between August 2024 and August 2026, across every state we serve. It describes families served by those clinics, not the US ABA market.

Families who owed nothing

69.5%

Share of families nationally whose settled claims carried no patient responsibility. Medicaid plans usually cover it by design, while commercial plans carry deductibles and copays.

Alpaca Health partner-clinic caseload, Aug 2024 to Aug 2026. 896 families across 77 clinics.

Median owed per hour of therapy, commercial plans

$2.71

Patient responsibility owed per delivered hour for families on commercial plans nationally. About four in ten owed nothing at all. Middle half of families: $0 to $12.18.

Alpaca Health partner-clinic caseload, Aug 2024 to Aug 2026. 448 families across 64 clinics.

Independent practices on Alpaca Health

95

Practices run by clinician owners across the country, together serving about 1,400 children with roughly 148,700 hours of therapy delivered in the window.

Alpaca Health platform records, Aug 2024 to Aug 2026.

Median days to a payer decision

16.4

Days from the moment a partner clinic submits a prior authorization to the moment the payer approves or denies it. Middle half of requests: 10 to 26 days.

Alpaca Health partner-clinic caseload, Aug 2024 to Aug 2026. 1,082 families across 81 clinics.

How prior authorizations ended nationally

  • Approved69.3%
  • Withdrawn before a decision13.8%
  • No authorization was needed9.8%
Share of prior authorization requests by outcome. Outcome groups with too few families behind them are not shown, so these shares do not add to 100. 891 families across 78 clinics.

Where therapy hours were delivered

  • At home64.9%
  • In a clinic office13.3%
  • By telehealth8.9%
  • At school7.3%
  • Other settings5.6%
Share of delivered therapy hours by the place of service billed on each signed session note. Alpaca Health partner-clinic caseload, Aug 2024 to Aug 2026.

Families who had at least one telehealth session

72.4%

Telehealth is a small share of total hours nationally, and most families used it at least once. It fills gaps around illness and travel rather than replacing in-person work.

Alpaca Health partner-clinic caseload, Aug 2024 to Aug 2026. 783 families across 70 clinics.

These figures describe clients of Alpaca Health partner ABA clinics, on the payers Alpaca Health contracts with. They are not measurements of the US ABA market. A figure appears only when at least 25 families from at least 3 clinics sit behind it.

Getting an autism diagnosis in Las Vegas

Private insurance authorizes ABA therapy after a confirmed autism diagnosis. Nevada Medicaid covers ABA for autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, and other conditions where ABA is medically necessary, and an autism diagnosis goes on form FA-11F for prior authorization. Which route fits depends on your child's age and the plan on your card.

Start with Alpaca Health

We check if an Alpaca Health ADOS-2 evaluation is available for your child in Las Vegas, and what your plan requires. An ADOS-2 is one part of an autism diagnosis.

Start your evaluation

Under age 3

Nevada Early Intervention Services evaluates children under three who show early signs of autism at no cost, and parents can refer directly. Call the Southern Nevada line at 725-281-3125.

Age 3 and up

Nevada's Aging and Disability Services Division keeps a list of autism diagnosticians across the Las Vegas valley, with the insurance each one accepts. Call ahead, since accepted plans change.

How Nevada's autism coverage law works

What covered plans must do

  • Cover ABA: Group plans must cover screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism, including applied behavior analysis, for children under 18, or until 22 if still enrolled in high school.
  • No visit limits: Insurers cannot cap the number of visits, and cost sharing for autism care cannot be higher than for other outpatient care.
  • Accept the diagnosis: Insurers must accept an autism diagnosis made under Nevada's statewide standard by a provider working within their scope of practice.

Where the law stops

  • $72,000 per year: ABA coverage is capped at the actuarial equivalent of $72,000 per year, and insurers may apply the same copays and deductibles as for other medical care.
  • Individual plans: Plans you buy yourself only have to offer autism coverage as an option, so check what your plan includes.
  • Self-funded plans: Employer plans under federal ERISA rules are exempt from the state mandate, so ask how yours is funded.

Why independent clinics matter

In-home ABA that fits your life

  1. The providers we work with bring therapy to you, wherever your child is most comfortable.
  2. That might mean home, daycare, school, or virtual sessions. Our flexible care model ensures that therapy integrates into your family’s daily routine, rather than disrupting it.
  3. Our network is made up of independent, local clinicians who prioritize

collaboration, not control, so you stay in charge of your child’s care.

Support for the full pediatric age range

  1. Many ABA centers stop care when a child turns 8. BCBAs on Alpaca Health support the full pediatric age range, from toddlers until age 21, where coverage allows.
  2. Your child deserves more than short-term support. With Alpaca Health, they can build a long-term relationship with a provider who understands their growth over time and adapts care as their needs evolve.
  3. We also support your whole family with educational events and resources,

including parent webinars, advocacy toolkits, and grant guides.

More care. Less wait.

  1. Waiting months for ABA therapy shouldn’t be the norm. Alpaca Health connects families with independent BCBAs who are taking new families, and most families begin within a few weeks.
  2. We work exclusively with independent providers, which allows us to stay

flexible and waitlist-free. That means faster assessments, quicker treatment

starts, and the end of years-long waits.
  3. Ready to get started? We’ll handle the paperwork, help coordinate referrals,

and walk you through every step.

Frequently asked questions about ABA therapy in Las Vegas

Does insurance cover ABA therapy in Las Vegas?

Many fully insured Nevada health plans cover ABA therapy under NRS 689B.0335. Nevada's group health plans must cover the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism, including applied behavior analysis, for children under 18, or until 22 if still enrolled in high school. ABA is capped at the actuarial equivalent of $72,000 per year, with no limit on the number of visits. Self-funded employer plans follow federal rules instead. Self-funded employer plans (common at large companies) are exempt, so check with HR. Nevada Medicaid covers medically necessary ABA for children with autism, and treatment hours need prior authorization whether a family is enrolled in a Medicaid health plan or in fee-for-service. Alpaca Health verifies your coverage and handles prior authorization so you don't have to call your insurer. Start the process today.

Do you offer in-home ABA therapy in Las Vegas?

Yes. Most Alpaca Health families in Las Vegas choose in-home ABA because it lets your child learn in the environment where they spend the most time. Your BCBA and RBT come to your house and work with your child using everyday routines, toys, and spaces your child is already comfortable with. Parents can watch, ask questions, and learn strategies to use between sessions. It also means no driving to a clinic.

Do you offer virtual ABA therapy in Las Vegas?

It depends on your plan. Alpaca Health offers virtual ABA sessions for Las Vegas families where the plan covers them. Virtual works especially well for parent coaching, where your BCBA walks you through strategies in real time while you practice with your child. It's also a good option for older children working on social and communication skills, or for families who want to supplement in-home sessions. Many Medicaid programs require day-to-day therapy with an RBT to happen in person, so we confirm what your plan allows before you start. All virtual sessions run on a secure video platform.

Can my child get ABA therapy at school in Las Vegas?

It depends on your school and your plan. Each school or school system decides whether outside ABA providers can work on campus, and some do not allow it. Many plans also limit ABA during classroom instruction. Your BCBA can still coordinate with your child's teachers and IEP team, and we confirm what is possible with Clark County School District before you plan on school sessions. Alpaca Health also offers in-daycare ABA for younger children not yet in school.

How quickly can my child start ABA therapy in Las Vegas?

Alpaca Health has no waitlists in Las Vegas. After you complete a quick intake form, our team verifies your insurance and matches you with a BCBA who serves your area. Most families begin within a few weeks. Have your insurance card and any autism evaluation reports ready to move quickly.

How much does ABA therapy cost in Las Vegas?

It depends on your plan, since your deductible and copays shape what ABA therapy costs. Nevada Medicaid covers medically necessary ABA once treatment is prior authorized. If coverage falls short, the state's Autism Treatment Assistance Program can help pay for treatment for children under 20 with a diagnosis, though intake can take months.

Check your Las Vegas coverage and Alpaca Health will verify your benefits before sessions begin.

Does Alpaca Health serve families in Las Vegas?

Yes. Las Vegas sits inside Alpaca Health's Nevada service area. L'Tricia Turner, the BCBA featured on this page, runs A Parentz Touch ABA Services from North Las Vegas, which borders the city. Tell us your address and we will confirm what is available at home before you commit.

Can Clark County School District diagnose my child with autism?

A Clark County School District evaluation decides if your child qualifies for special education and an Individualized Education Program, which covers services at school. It is a school decision, and insurers usually still want a medical diagnosis from a licensed clinician before they approve ABA therapy.

You can pursue both at once, and your child's BCBA can work with the IEP team once therapy starts.

Where can my child get autism testing in Las Vegas?

Under age 3, call Nevada Early Intervention Services at 725-281-3125. You can refer your child directly, at no cost.

From age 3, start with the state's list of Las Vegas valley diagnosticians, which shows the insurance each one accepts. TRICARE families need the diagnosis from an approved provider, such as a pediatrician, who then sends the referral to TriWest.

Frequently asked questions about ABA therapy & autism

How many hours of ABA therapy does my child need per week?

Your BCBA recommends a weekly hour range from your child's assessment, age, and goals; most children receive 10 to 40 hours of ABA therapy per week. Younger children often start higher, and focused lower-hour plans suit many older kids. This guide to weekly ABA therapy hours shows how BCBAs decide. Start an assessment to get a personalized recommendation.

How long does ABA therapy take to show results?

Many families notice small changes in the first few weeks, like new words or easier transitions. Clearer communication and steadier daily routines usually show within 3 to 6 months, and larger gains in social skills and independence build over 6 to 12 months. Every child moves at their own pace; see how long ABA takes for most families.

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based autism therapy that builds communication, social, and daily living skills through play. A BCBA designs your child's program and an RBT runs the sessions. Most private plans and state Medicaid programs cover it. Here is what ABA therapy costs with and without insurance.

Is ABA therapy harmful?

Modern ABA therapy is safe when a qualified, neurodiversity-affirming provider delivers it. The aversive techniques of decades past are gone from current practice. A good provider never forces compliance, suppresses stimming, or pushes your child to mask, and sessions should look like play your child chose.

What's the difference between a BCBA and an RBT?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a master's-level clinician who designs your child's therapy plan and supervises treatment. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works directly with your child in each session, following that plan. Every Alpaca Health family gets both, working as one team.

What happens during an ABA therapy session?

Sessions blend structured teaching with play. Your RBT practices communication, social, and daily routine skills through activities your child enjoys, using toys, books, and real-life moments, and records progress data throughout. Parents join in so strategies carry over after the session, and here is a real in-home session from start to finish.
